The June Issue Is Here

Today’s Report has one job: to point you towards the June edition of World Pickleball Magazine.

This is the World Pickleball Report.

The June magazine is now live.

It starts in Seoul, where a city built on pressure has discovered a sport built on belonging. From there, the issue moves across Ukraine, Uganda, Tanzania, Japan, Brazil, Asia’s professional pathways, the business of ownership, paddle technology, sports travel, nutrition, tactics and the stories shaping pickleball’s next chapter.

This is not a magazine about pickleball getting bigger. It is a magazine about what the sport is becoming.

Lead Feature: The Spreadsheet Courts of Seoul

The cover story is not really about spreadsheets.

It is about a modern city searching for community in the gaps between work, pressure and expectation. In Seoul, pickleball has become more than a game. It has become a third place, organised through shared documents, evening sessions and the simple permission to meet strangers without needing a reason beyond play.

What matters: Seoul shows why pickleball’s global future will not simply copy the American version. Every country is remaking the sport in its own image.

The Reset: A Global Game With Local Meanings

This issue travels widely, but not for the sake of geography.

Uganda is fighting to place pickleball inside the school sports system. Tanzania’s Open has outgrown its original frame. Asia now has a six-country APP circuit. Hainan is preparing a full-residence academy. In Japan, Daniel Moore’s story explains how one player helped carry the sport into a country that shaped him.

What matters: Pickleball is no longer spreading as one story. It is becoming a collection of local stories connected by the same court.

Pressure Points: Who Shapes The Sport Now?

The June issue also looks at the forces gathering around pickleball.

Who owns the sport in 2026? Who controls technology? What happens when artificial intelligence enters officiating? What does the hot paddle debate mean when it reaches recreational courts? And what does it say when one of pickleball’s biggest brands buys one of its coolest independent names?

What matters: The sport is still wonderfully simple to play, but increasingly complex to organise, govern and commercialise.

Beyond The Score: The Human Stories

The strongest parts of this issue are not always the biggest business stories.

They are the stories of two Ukrainian veterans from Sumy finding a way back through competition. Michelle Jones leaving a legacy in Townsville. Inclusive pickleball in Brazil. Simon Shaw moving from Welsh rugby to pickleball obsession. Players on the road to the English Open balancing cost, ambition, doubt and family life.

What matters: The sport keeps expanding because people keep finding something personal inside it.

One Thing To Read: The Holiday Built Around Friendship

Casa Luna appears in this issue through a feature that looks at one of the quieter changes in the sport: people are now building holidays around pickleball friendships.

The piece is not really about travel packages. It is about why players increasingly want a trip that gives them courts, sunshine, shared meals and people they can keep playing with long after they return home.

What matters: Pickleball travel works because the sport does not end when the match finishes. Often, that is where the real connection begins.

What Matters Most

The June issue is 92 pages because the sport now needs space.

Space for Seoul. Space for Ukraine. Space for Asia. Space for recreational players, elite players, volunteers, travellers, governing bodies, investors, brands, coaches, referees and people still trying to understand why this game has attached itself so firmly to their lives.

The question is no longer whether pickleball is growing. It is what the sport becomes as more people start to care.
