Rankings methodology

This page describes the player rating World Pickleball Magazine is designing. The table on the rankings page is PKLStats Rating v2, a rating of 2026 form as of 31 August 2026. GPA lists on the score bar are labelled GPA.

What the rating is

Each discipline — men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed — will have its own rating, updated after a match from the result and the margin. The model is an Elo- or Glicko-style rating. Event tier and recency will weight a match, with decay so the number describes current form.

Results from different tours will be placed on one scale. A new player can start from a prior where a public rating exists. The terms for using results from each tour have to be confirmed before any of this is published as a rating.

Doubles

Each player will have an individual rating. A pair's strength will be combined from the two ratings. Partner chemistry, if it is shown, will be an output of results, not an input to the formula.

What will be public

The methodology, a version number, a changelog and a corrections list. Weekly snapshots will be archived once the rating is published.
