Thais secured all seven available medals across the tour’s events, a feat of dominance never before seen in the region. His performance in India and beyond has set a formidable benchmark for the tour, which was designed to introduce high-level professional pickleball to emerging Asian markets. Organisers and fans alike are hailing the performance as a historic milestone that showcases the rapid globalisation of the sport.

Yet, Thais managed to maintain peak physical and mental form across different formats and venues to go 7-for-7. His run included victories in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, proving his versatility against a field of international competitors and rising Asian stars.
Kimberley Koh, Managing Director of PPA Tour Asia, emphasised that Thais’s victory lap is about more than just one player’s trophy case. “This felicitation celebrates Rex’s achievement while also inspiring the next generation of young pickleball talent worldwide,” Koh stated. The PPA Tour Asia was launched to provide a pathway for players in the region to gain ranking points and experience without travelling to the US. Thais’s presence and dominance provided a “gold standard” for local players to measure themselves against.
The tour organisers noted that the physical demands of playing—and winning—across multiple categories usually lead to fatigue and upsets, making Thais’s “clean sweep” a testament to his conditioning and mental resilience. As the 2025 season concludes, the tour is looking to expand its calendar, using the excitement generated by Thais’s record-breaking run to fuel growth in 2026.
