Chennai Super Champs Seize Top Spot as World Pickleball League Electrifies Mumbai
Mumbai, India – The Jio World Garden has become the epicentre of intense pickleball action this week as the second season of the World Pickleball League (WPBL) enters its critical stages. In a display of tactical brilliance and raw power, the Chennai Super Champs have surged to the top of the league standings, boasting 24 points after a dominant performance on Matchday 4.
The Samantha Ruth Prabhu-owned franchise cemented their lead with a decisive 4-1 victory over Mumbai Pickle Power. The standout performer was undoubtedly Ly Hoang Nam, whose “miraculous game style” dismantled Max Green in the men’s singles with a staggering 28-7 scoreline. This victory not only secured a crucial lead for his team but also propelled Nam to the top of the “Band of Honour” as the league’s highest-scoring male player with 56 points.
On the women’s side, Domenika Turkovic mirrored this success. By defeating Jada Bui 15-13 in the women’s singles and securing a doubles win, she claimed the top spot on the female leaderboard, also with 56 points. “Chennai’s roar just gets louder,” the league announced, celebrating the team’s second consecutive tie win.
Elsewhere on the court, the Hyderabad Super Stars edged out Pune United in a nail-biting finish that ended 3-2. The tie required a dramatic tie-breaker, where Louis Laville and Kaitlynn Hart defeated their opponents 10-8. Laville’s lightning-fast speed earned him the “Player of the Tie” title, helping Hyderabad secure second place in the standings.
Fans are now tuning in for the upcoming clashes, with the Rajasthan Titans set to face the table-topping Chennai Super Champs, followed by the Bengaluru Jawans taking on Dilli Dillwale.
Synced for Success: Rossetti Twins Smash World Record with 113 Volleys in One Minute
New Delhi, India – In a feat demanding extraordinary focus and synchronisation, identical twins Angelo and Ettorre Rossetti have set a new pickleball world record. The duo, known globally as the Rossetti Brothers, successfully completed 113 consecutive volleys without the ball bouncing in a single minute, surpassing the previous record on their very first attempt.
The record-breaking performance took place during a pickleball clinic and is currently under review by Guinness World Records for official verification. The challenge required the brothers to keep the ball airborne for the full 60 seconds, a test of sharp timing that the twins navigated with precision.
This achievement is the latest milestone in a journey that began in their grandfather’s basement, where they honed their competitive instincts on a homemade ping-pong table, often standing on milk crates to reach the surface. While they have previously set records in both tennis and pickleball, their motivation has evolved from pure competition to a deeper mission.
Following the loss of their mother to stage four pancreatic cancer, the brothers shifted their focus toward “purpose-driven achievement”. Their most notable prior endurance record—a rally lasting over 16,000 shots—was completed on World Mental Health Day, marking a turning point in how they view their sporting platform.
“Records with meaning beyond numbers” has become their philosophy, using sport to demonstrate discipline and mental strength. As the pickleball market continues to grow, with projections hitting $3.50 billion by 2032, the Rossetti Brothers continue to inspire the community not just with statistics but with their dedication to a cause greater than the game itself.
