Hit it deeper!

The story of the day was the resilience of the Madras Marinas. Bernadette Massih was the MVP of the fixture, setting the tone with a commanding 21–14 victory in singles over Jasmine Almaguer. She then returned to the court with partner Parth Ravi to secure the crucial women’s doubles point. Although Kolkata mounted a fierce comeback by winning the mixed and men’s doubles matches, the Marinas showed superior nerves in the deciding tiebreaker to clinch the tie.

In the same division, the Delhi Snipers were involved in a heart-stopper against the Ahmedabad Olympians. After falling behind early due to a singles loss by Zoyein Patel, Delhi’s doubles teams stepped up. The pairings of Schoeman–Sapra and Estareja–Schoeman wrestled momentum back, but Ahmedabad forced a final decider. In the winner-take-all final game, the Snipers found an extra gear, powering through 21–12 to secure their first points of the league.

The Hyderabad Vikings also made headlines with a 3–2 win over Kolkata, driven by a dominant singles performance from Roos van Reek. In the Challenger Division, the Coimbatore Super Smashers dispatched the Jaipur Stallions 3–1, with Amber Policare leading the charge in both singles and doubles.

The World Pickleball Verdict

The Global Sports Pickleball League is proving that the team format is the most electrifying way to consume the sport. The prevalence of 3–2 scorelines and tiebreakers on Day 2 demonstrates that the talent is evenly distributed, making for compelling viewing. The Madras Marinas look like championship contenders, but the Delhi Snipers’ ability to win under extreme pressure suggests they could be the dark horses of the tournament. As the group stages conclude, the ability to win “deciding games” is emerging as the defining trait of the league’s top teams.
