The Report
Bellamy's Next Test, Lamb's Exit and Louisville's Free-Ticket Bet
Good morning, pickleballers.
Two PPA tournaments are reaching the quarter-final stage, and the stories are developing in different directions. In Virginia Beach, Roscoe Bellamy faces his first major test since winning the Chicago Cup, while John Lucian Goins is making progress across three disciplines.
In Brisbane, Liam Lamb's singles run has ended against Grayson Goldin, but Sahra Dennehy, Tama Shimabukuro and Hong Kit Wong remain part of an increasingly interesting Asia-Pacific challenge.
And away from the PPA Tour, the APP arrives in Louisville with a commercial proposition worth examining: free general admission, a paid VIP experience and a major healthcare partner.
Bellamy's Chicago title brings a different kind of pressure
Roscoe Bellamy arrives in the Virginia Beach round of 16 as the top men's singles seed, just days after defeating Christopher Haworth 11–4, 11–5 for Chicago Cup gold. His next opponent is Ram Kotnana, who advanced with an 11–7, 11–9 victory over Jonathan Truong.
John Lucian Goins is also building momentum. He defeated Alexander Crum 11–5, 11–0 in singles and remains involved in both doubles disciplines. Our report examines whether Bellamy can turn his latest title into sustained form, and whether Goins can convert his impressive start into a deeper run.

Liam Lamb's victory over Dylan Frazier provided the WALKER Australia Pickleball Cup with an early headline, but Grayson Goldin ended the Australian's singles campaign 11–5, 11–8 in the round of 16.
Elsewhere, Sahra Dennehy and Tama Shimabukuro recovered from a game down to defeat Connor Garnett and Kiora Kunimoto in mixed doubles, setting up a quarter-final against Jorja and JW Johnson. Hong Kit Wong will also test himself against Hunter Johnson in men's singles. The question now is whether proven Asia-Pacific competitors can carry their success into the decisive stages of an international PPA1500.

The inaugural Humana APP Louisville Open begins today at the Kentucky International Convention Center, with complimentary general admission, paid VIP packages starting at $150 and a $125,000 professional prize purse.
Behind the tournament is an interesting commercial model. A major healthcare company is backing an event that removes the basic ticket-price barrier while creating premium experiences and a wider community festival. For promoters looking beyond the biggest professional tour, Louisville offers a useful case study in how sponsorship, accessibility and hospitality might work together.
