What’s the Score?

The World Pickleball League (WPBL) saw a significant shake-up in the standings following the action on Match Day 6, concluded on February 1, 2026. In a display of overwhelming force, Dilli Dillwale dismantled the Hyderabad Super Stars with a 4-1 tie victory, propelling them to the upper echelon of the league table. Meanwhile, Pune United secured a critical, hard-fought victory against the Rajasthan Titans, anchored by a crushing performance in Men’s Singles. As the dust settles, the Chennai Super Champs hold the top rank with 33 points, but Dilli Dillwale is hot on their heels with 36 points, setting up a fierce race to the finish.

Hit it deeper!

The marquee matchup of the weekend featured Dilli Dillwale flexing their depth against Hyderabad. The star of the show was undoubtedly Max Manthou, who earned “Player of the Tie” honours. Dilli’s strategy was flawless in the gendered doubles and men’s singles. Vinh Hien Truong was clinical in Men’s Singles, destroying Hyderabad’s Marcello Jardim 26-9. Dilli followed this up with clutch wins in Women’s Doubles (10-8) and Men’s Doubles (12-10), proving they can handle pressure in tight games. Hyderabad’s lone bright spot came from Seone Mendez, who salvaged a point with a dominant 23-9 win in Women’s Singles.

In the other major contest, Pune United relied on star power to overcome Rajasthan. Balint Bako was unstoppable, earning “Player of the Tie” after demolishing Rajasthan’s Jack Foster 29-11 in Men’s Singles—a margin of victory rarely seen at this level. Although Rajasthan fought back with victories in Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles, Pune United clinched the tie by taking the Men’s Doubles (10-6) and the Women’s Singles (25-15).

The league standings are now incredibly tight. While Dilli Dillwale has accumulated more total points (36) across four ties played, the Chennai Super Champs remain in the Rank 1 position with 33 points from only three ties, suggesting a superior win percentage or head-to-head advantage.

The World Pickleball Verdict

Match Day 6 of the WPL has clarified the hierarchy of the league: Dilli Dillwale is a legitimate championship contender. Their ability to win 4-1 signifies a complete roster with no obvious holes.

The verdict also highlights the brutal nature of the WPL scoring format. Rajasthan Titans, despite winning two matches in their tie (Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles), still find themselves languishing in 6th place. In this league, winning “ugly” isn’t enough; teams need dominant, high-margin victories to accumulate the points necessary to catch leaders like Chennai. The standout individual performances by Manthou and Bako also remind us that in a team sport, a single “hot” player can still completely derail an opponent’s game plan.
