Stark, Zeon, Properties, Pentamaster and more have been announced as sponsors for the April tournament.

Alongside the growth of pickleball tournaments, the expansion of the sport has been prominent in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, where many facilities have emerged.

The Klang Valley region, which encompasses the capital, has become a pickleball hotspot. Venues like KL City Pickleball, Sportizza, and Let’s Pickle Ball are offering high-quality environments with the opportunity for players to develop their skills.

As of early 2025, there are between 3,000 and 5,000 active pickleball players in Malaysia and nearly 40 associations and clubs registered with the Sports Commission of Malaysia.

With an eye on the future, the Selangor state government has allocated RM1 million to develop 100,000 pickleball players over the next five years, with preparation for the sport’s inclusion in Sukma 2026, a biennial national multi-sport event involving young athletes from Malaysia’s 13 states and 3 Federal Territories.

Malaysia’s pickleball future in the short, medium and long term is heading in a very exciting and interesting place.

The World Pickleball Verdict

The Grand Pickleball Masters Malaysia 2025, organised by PCCC YES, is another major progression in pickleball in the country.

Attracting international players, plus domestic players of all ages is a signifier to the seismic growth of the sport, as well as the ambition of Malaysia itself.

With estimates of up to 5,000 players in the country, that number will have increased even further by this time next year, and that is something you can almost guarantee, and you would be naïve to assume any other.

Malaysia’s infrastructure is blossoming in all facets, including facilities, player uptake, accessibility for all ages, and the buy-in from governing bodies, as shown by the Selangor state government’s commitments.

The use of Malaysia’s No.1 pickleball player, Colin Wong, is a genius idea of getting people inspired, active and involved in play, whether that be scratching the competitive itch, or just picking up a paddle with friends, family or colleagues and starting the pickleball journey.

These developments highlight the rapid expansion and increasing popularity of pickleball throughout Malaysia.
