The WPC Asia Pickleball Grand Slam Malaysia 2025 is poised to be a highlight on the regional pickleball calendar. Scheduled for five days, from July 16 to July 20, 2025, the tournament will take place at the dedicated pickleball facility, The Pickle Ground, located in Bandar Utama. As a Tier 4 event within the global World Pickleball Championship series, it carries significant weight and attracts a high calibre of competition from players throughout Asia.
The tournament structure is designed to be inclusive, featuring competition in all standard categories: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. Players of varying skill levels, ranging from intermediate to elite, are encouraged to participate, alongside various age groups, ensuring a diverse field of athletes.
One of the most appealing aspects of the event is the considerable prize pool, which totals up to RM100,000. The exact distribution of cash prizes will depend on the number of participants in each specific category, but the top three finishers in every category will receive monetary awards. It's noted that if registration numbers are less than half of the expected turnout for a category, the prize amounts will be reduced by half.
For players eager to compete, the registration period is already underway, having opened on May 1, 2025. The final deadline for registration is July 2, 2025, though the sources indicate that registration could close sooner if all available spots are filled before the deadline. The standard registration fee is RM248 per player, with an early bird discount of RM211 available for those who registered by May 13, 2025. All players must register through the Pickleball Global platform to secure their entry.
The tournament schedule is planned across the five days. Men’s and women’s singles matches are slated to begin on the opening day, July 16. Mixed doubles play will span two days, July 17 and 18. The event will conclude with men’s and women’s doubles matches on July 19 and 20. The organisers note that the schedule is subject to change based on factors such as the number of participants, weather conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Match play will adhere to the official USA Pickleball Rulebook. Any disputes or special cases that arise during the tournament will be handled by the Tournament Committee. Once the official draw is completed, no changes to doubles partners will be permitted. Players who are more than 10 minutes late for their scheduled match or fail to show up will automatically forfeit, receiving a score of 0-11 or 0-15. Tournament results will be officially recorded on both the DUPR and Pickleball Global platforms. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to delay, adjust, or even cancel the tournament if necessary. In the event of a cancellation, all registration fees will be fully refunded.
