PPA Tour Asia has launched its 2026 season with a marketing masterstroke, unveiling a new medal system that gamifies the podium experience. The tour has introduced a set of three interlocking medals that, when combined, form a single ceremonial fan. Woven through the design is a dragon, utilising pan-Asian mythology to challenge athletes to not just win a single event, but to "complete the dragon" by placing on the podium across all three competitive tiers.

The design is steeped in cultural symbolism intended to resonate across the diverse nations of the tour. The central figure is the dragon—known as long in China, rong in Vietnam, naga in Thailand, and ryu in Japan. By unifying these varying mythologies into a single design, the PPA is attempting to create a cohesive identity for the Asian circuit. The dragon is depicted against royal blue, chasing a pickleball instead of the traditional flaming pearl, symbolising the modern athlete's pursuit of glory.

The medals also feature white lotus flowers, representing the athlete's journey of struggle through "mud" to emerge victorious. The fan shape itself is significant, referencing the ceremonial fans used across Asia to mark moments of status and occasion. The mechanics of the medal are unique: winning one tier grants a fragment. Only by reaching the podium at all three tiers can a player physically lock the pieces together to reveal the full image.

To ensure broad engagement, the tour is also implementing a participation incentive. Players who do not medal will still receive unique pins at every stop, echoing the tournament's specific design, ensuring that the "dragon" narrative extends to the amateur base, not just the elite winners.
