Phuc Huynh Donates Prize Money to Vietnam Flood Relief After Finals

Hanoi, Vietnam

What's the Score?

Hanoi, Vietnam – Vietnamese pickleball star Phuc Huynh turned his recent competitive efforts into humanitarian action by donating his entire 30 million VND (approximately USD $1,134) bonus from the D-Joy Vietnam Master Petrolimex Cup 2025 to flood relief efforts in Vietnam’s Central Region. Huynh made the contribution to the Central Committee of the Fatherland Front immediately following his defeat in the tournament finals against compatriot Quang Duong.

Hit it Deeper!

Phuc Huynh, who earlier in the year secured the Men’s Singles championship at the MB Vietnam Open in September, faced a highly anticipated rematch against Quang Duong in the Petrolimex Cup 2025 final. Duong, regarded as Asia’s finest male pickleball player and a former PPA Tour star, proved too strong, defeating Huynh 2-0 with identical scores of 11-4, 11-4.

Despite the loss, which prevented him from securing a "career-defining victory," Huynh shifted his focus quickly to relief efforts for his home country. The Central Region of Vietnam had been severely affected by ongoing torrential rains and catastrophic widespread flooding.

Huynh publicly announced his decision on his Facebook page, stating his intention to "raise funds for the flood in Vietnam" during what he called "a difficult time for my Vietnamese people". He expressed gratitude to the tournament organisers, Pickleball D-Joy and Petrolimex, for hosting an "epic and professional tournament," and congratulated Quang Duong on a great game from which he learned a lot. The donation of 30 million VND came directly from his bonus money. Following the competition, Phuc Huynh joined Quang Duong to play in the Indian Pickleball League. Huynh’s action highlights a significant commitment to community well-being that goes hand-in-hand with his professional development.

The World Pickleball Verdict

Phuc Huynh's decision to immediately donate his tournament bonus money showcases the admirable personal responsibility and strong community ties that exist within the global pickleball professional circuit.

This action transcends the boundaries of sport, turning a competitive platform into a source of immediate relief for victims of natural disasters. It sends a powerful message that even in defeat, athletes can be profound local leaders, establishing a standard for using professional success to support those in crisis.
