Pep Canyadell Crowned Pickle Pro Tour Men’s Singles No. 1

Lérida, Spain

What's the Score?

Lérida, Spain – Pep Canyadell, the Catalan player, has been confirmed as the official Men’s Singles No. 1 player for the inaugural 2025 season of the Pickle Pro Tour (PPT), recognised as the most consistent athlete in the category. Canyadell secured three gold medals and one silver throughout the season, leading the rankings from the first event. Ignasi de Rueda finished a very close second, narrowing the gap to just 50 points by the end of the season despite a late surge of two consecutive gold medals.

Hit it Deeper!

Pep Canyadell established his dominance from the earliest stages of the PPT season. He claimed the top spot in the rankings after winning the first tournament, the Málaga Spanish Open. He cemented his lead by also becoming champion at the Alcobendas and Barcelona events. In addition to his three gold medals, Canyadell also earned a silver medal in Móstoles, providing the foundation necessary to secure the overall number one ranking for the league's first year.

The race for the top spot, however, was tightly contested until the very end by Ignasi de Rueda. De Rueda mounted an impressive late challenge, securing back-to-back gold medals at the Mijas Open and the Gran Canaria Open. This late surge brought him within a mere 50 points of Canyadell. De Rueda’s title chase was ultimately hindered by his non-participation in the season-opening Málaga tournament and a premature exit in the quarterfinals at Alcobendas. Despite this, his campaign was described as a "temporadón" (a great season).

Rounding out the podium in third place was Sergi Ventura, who earned his spot through remarkable consistency and regularity. Ventura holds the unique distinction among the top three players of competing in the men's singles category in every single PPT tournament held during the season. His best result for the year was reaching the semi-finals at the Málaga event. This regularity rewarded him with the third-place podium finish in the final ranking. Players and fans can review the final standings, including points and individual player ranks, on the official PPT RANKING page. The conclusion of the individual men’s season marked the end of the inaugural PPT year, following the final event, the Gran Canaria Open 2025.

The World Pickleball Verdict

The inaugural Pickle Pro Tour season established a clear benchmark for success in Spanish pickleball: dominance across key tournaments is required to capture the top spot, but consistent presence is just as vital for maintaining rank.

Canyadell's early wins ensured his cushion, while Ventura's third-place finish based entirely on regularity proves that sheer participation and commitment across the tour are highly rewarded in this emerging professional circuit. The intense, 50-point margin battle between Canyadell and De Rueda signals a rising competitive standard that promises an even more explosive second season.
