The tournament is scheduled to be held at Pickleland Penang from June 27 to 30, 2025. It is receiving support from the Malaysia Pickleball Association, KBS, Jabatan Belia dan Sukan Negeri Pulau Pinang, and sponsorships from Triple Ace and the AFA Community. The competition format is designed for teams, with each team consisting of 10–12 players. Teams will compete across men’s doubles (two pairs), women’s doubles (one pair), and mixed doubles (two pairs) categories. The organisers are targeting a minimum of 16 teams but can accommodate up to 24 teams if necessary. The prize structure is dependent on the number of participating teams: if there are at least 16 teams, the champion receives RM5,000, first runner-up RM3,000, and second runner-up RM2,000; if the number of teams reaches 24, the prize money increases to RM8,000 for the champion, RM5,000 for the first runner-up, and RM3,000 for the second runner-up. The registration fee is RM 2,500 per team, which covers the competition entry (RM1,200) and a special closing dinner (RM1,300). The fee package includes a free tournament jersey, a sling bag with goodies, a door gift, and a lunch pack for two event days. Participation requires players to be at least 18 years old and sign an Indemnity Waiver. A notable rule is that all players on a team must be from the same state. The tournament will use a single-round robin format for the elimination stage, followed by a knockout format for the semifinals and finals.

The World Pickleball Verdict

The announcement of the Penang Pickleball Exchange Tour Tournament 2025 indicates the growing organisation and structure of pickleball events in Malaysia, focusing on team competition. The tiered prize money based on participation acts as an incentive for teams to register, aiming to maximise the scale of the event. The requirement for teams to be state-based suggests an emphasis on regional representation and development within Malaysian pickleball.
