The tournament has successfully drawn a large field of more than 130 players who have travelled from various parts of Spain to compete.

The stakes are high for the participants, as they are vying to earn crucial points that will affect both their regional and national rankings. These points are vital for players hoping to secure a spot in the circuit's prestigious Final Masters.

The event is a collaborative effort, jointly organised by the Pickleball Axarquia Club and the local sports department in Torre de Benagalbón. This partnership between a local club and municipal authorities underscores the growing institutional support for the sport. The tournament features a comprehensive set of categories, including singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. A key characteristic of the event is the wide range of participant ages, with players spanning from children to individuals over 60 competing.

The competition officially commenced on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m., with the men's +60 singles category kicking off the weekend's play at Parque Jaime Pimentel. The local Councillor for Sports, Antonio José Martín, commented on the event, stating, "This is another great sporting event that puts Rincon de la Victoria on the map". He emphasised the rapid growth of pickleball in the area, noting that over a hundred people already play it locally, which "speaks volumes" about the sport's popularity.

The organisers have made the event accessible to spectators by offering completely free entry to all matches throughout the weekend. This openness helps promote the sport further within the community. The tournament is recognised as a significant fixture on the national pickleball calendar, reflecting the local club's influence and the sport's rising prominence in the region.
